Tailoring & Alterations
Clothing alterations & tailoring,
St Austell
Turn-ups, zips, hems, taking in and letting out, and everything else that makes clothes fit and last. This is the work that comes through our door every day, and most of it is back with you inside the week.

Tailoring & Alterations
Trousers taken up, sleeves shortened, waistbands let out, dresses taken in, broken zips replaced, buttons and linings renewed. The everyday jobs that make something wearable again, done by people who trained on the machines rather than picked it up as a sideline.
Bring it to the workshop and we'll pin it while you're there where we can. You'll get a straight price before we start, and if it's not worth altering we'll tell you that instead of taking your money.
Garment repairs and alterations, both
Most of what comes through the door is everyday clothing: garment repairs, taking in and letting out, hems and turn-ups, zips, buttons, linings and the trouser leg that has never been the right length. Lisa has been sewing since school, so there is very little she has not already seen.
Bring it in and you will get a straight price and an honest answer about the deadline. If it is worth saving we will say so; if it is not, we will say that too. Most everyday alterations are back within the week, quicker if you need them for something.
Motorcycle leathers and Kevlar jeans are a job of their own and live on the bike and leather page. Curtains, cushions and loose covers are on upholstery and soft furnishings.

Questions we get asked
How much does it cost to take up a pair of trousers?
It depends on the fabric and the finish, whether they're lined, and whether you want a plain hem or a turn-up. Bring them in or ring us and you'll get a straight price, not a guess.
How long do alterations take?
Most everyday alterations are back with you within the week, and quicker if you need them for something. Tell us the deadline when you drop off and we'll be honest about whether we can hit it.
Can you replace a broken zip?
Yes, in almost anything: trousers, jeans, jackets, dresses, bags and leathers. Replacing a zip is nearly always cheaper than replacing the garment.
Do you alter wedding and formal wear?
Yes. Bridal, bridesmaids, suits, prom and black tie. Come in early if you can, and bring the shoes you'll be wearing so we get the length right.
